The beta (preliminary) test of the FamilySearch Indexing mobile app has been completed and the app has been removed from the app stores for further downloading. No new images are being published for the mobile app so those who have downloaded it should discontinue using it. (For more information, see The Mobile App–What We’ve Learned.)
A new web-based indexing program is currently being developed for both desktop and tablet computers. For more information, see The Future of Indexing.
Meanwhile, you can visit FamilySearch.org/indexing to learn more about FamilySearch indexing and to download the current indexing program to use on computers.
Update August 17, 2015: The FamilySearch engineers are working on an indexing program that will work on smartphones and tablets. They are hoping to make it available by the end of 2015 or early 2016. It will be a web-based system, so you won’t have to use a downloaded app.
No surprise. It hasn’t work for me in a while. They stopped developing it a while ago.
Is there any headway being made with the FamilySearch indexing app?
Kevin,
No headway yet. It is proving very time-consuming to prepare the data for a mobile app. Because of the small mobile screen, they have to split up an original document page into several chunks, then recompose the indexed text back into the original page.

I know it would be a challenge to design an App that would make mobile indexing worth it. However I know there are mobile users that would love to help with indexing using said app. Also, I feel that more people use mobile devices more than desktop computer systems. A good mobile app would increase indexing efforts. Any way my vote is they need mobile App. May the Lord Bless you with the inspiration to make it happen.
Did a new app ever come out to index on your phone?
Not yet.
I’m looking forward to doing indexing on my iPhone. Thank you for all the work you’re doing to make this possible. I do have indexing on my computer but as I get older, finding it harder to do/see the pages. Praying you’ll be led to the answers needed to make indexing possible on phones.
