The Mormon Channel, a new audio service from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, launched this morning. The Mormon Channel, found at radio.lds.org, broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week from Temple Square in Salt Lake City.
The channel features content from the vast Church archives, including classic talks and other programming. Additionally, it will have a lot of new programs and series created specifically for this new service. Many Church partner organizations, including Bonneville Communications, Deseret Book, Deseret News, and the campuses of Brigham Young University have contributed content to the new station.
Among the new programs available on Mormon Channel is Conversations, an interview program featuring leaders of the LDS Church, as well as members of the Church with intriguing stories to share. Sheri Dew and Ruth Todd will host this new series.
Additional programming for Mormon Channel includes news of the Church, interactive programming for youth, dramatic radio productions, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, interviews with Church members around the globe, stories from Church and family history, and general conference addresses.
HOW CAN I LISTEN TO THE STATION?
You can listen to the Mormon Channel live online anytime at radio.lds.org. There are also downloads and podcasts of content available at the same address. There is also an application for the iPhone, with new players for other mobile phones in development.
The station is also being rolled out as an HDRadio channel in all Bonneville radio markets, including Salt Lake City, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, Phoenix, Seattle, St. Louis, and Cincinnati. For more information on getting a compatible HDRadio, see hdradio.com. Additional distribution outlets, such as satellite radio, WiFi radio, and digital shortwave are also being explored.
Visit radio.lds.org for more information.
How is the content chosen? Is it human-picked? Does it pass through Correlation? Or is it (more or less) automatically served up from your “vast archives”?
See http://www.newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/mormon-radio-launches for more information.
Bonneville Shmoneville! Put this on the Astra satellite to get pan-European coverage.
Two things, first there have been connection problems, mainly in FF 3.10 in Win2k, drops after a few minutes, takes a long time to connect. Possible problems due to using a custom-built player or even server issues?
Also, is there going to be any official printed card that we could give to people so we can share this more easily with those we come in contact with on a daily basis? Sort of like a pass-along card or similar type of card?
On Wifi radios, you can’t really get the station using custom players, is there an alternate stream that wifi radios can pick up the station with? .wma, .m3u, and .pls streams always work.
I would love to work for your station
I would love to have conference broadcast on a shortwave station. I think it could reach a lot of the more remote areas of the country. Personally I would have used it this weekend had it been available!
My name is Ray Hummel III, and I would like to submit two new christian music songs to you to consider for airplay. Recently –
the missionaries Elder Fuller and Elder Robinson stopped by to see me, and have made several other stops. Their telephone number is 321-615-6909 in case you would like to talk to then in regards to me. I wrote and recorded both of the tunes.

Just discovered Mormon Radio by accident, and I love it. I especially enjoy discussion on a gospel topic, and interviews of LDS people.
I was wondering if the LDS has a S.W. radio station? Thank you and may God bless all who reads this.
Erik,
If you mean, “short-wave” radio station, I’m not aware of one.
Larry
First know I am not the same Erik, but I too was wondering if you plan on putting on a S.W. radio station. You have no idea how many more people around the world ,you would reach, than just being online. I hope you will think about it. May God bless you all.
Funny I just saw that the other Erik also most wrote what I did. They say we all have a twin out there! God bless
