Every year, wards and stakes have been requested to submit an annual history of important events in the ward or stake.
The Church is modernizing the whole process to encourage leaders to submit stories throughout the year into a new Unit History tool. Stories can be written by leaders serving in various ward and stake callings. The best part is that members will be able to read and be inspired by the stories from their own ward and stake.
Preparing and submitting these histories helps fulfill the Lord’s charge: “Continue in writing and making a history of all the important things … concerning my church. … And also, my servants who are abroad in the earth should send forth the accounts of their stewardships” (Doctrine and Covenants 69:3, 5).
To visit the stories from your ward and stake, visit UnitHistory.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. (Please note that since this process is new, your ward and stake may not have published any stories yet.)
I am the stake Historian for the Cobble Creek Stake. Does this mean will will no longer submit the annual history of the stake and wards each year? Does the stories now do what the annual history was in the past.
Yes, that’s what it means.
Due to the change in process of how the histories are submitted, our 2023 history hasn’t yet been submitted anywhere. Can our 2023 histories be submitted here as well as the ongoing stories from 2024?
I read today that stories can be submitted from up to 10 years in the past.
How and who activates the new online unit history tool for stakes and wards? I was able to write stories for the past month and now the system tells me ‘my ward does not have access. What is happening here?
Just tried again to get into unit history and I got in. I notice the church website plays up from time to time. The opening window of the church site has been disorientated for months when logging in on chrome.
In Africa central Area we need an instruction to all stakes and district to call Church history specialists. Each unit of LDS Church must call a Church history specialist to reduce work for clerks. Is it possible to send this instruction to all units in Africa central area? This will help the area leaders to get reports.
