Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe in and study the Holy Bible as the word of God because it teaches about Jesus Christ and testifies of His divine role as the Son of God and Savior of the world. Watch the Church video “The Holy Bible: A Witness of Jesus Christ.”

The Holy Bible is the word of God and testifies of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, as the Savior of the world. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints read and study the Bible in Church services, individually, and as families.

What is unique about members of the Church is that they believe there are other records of holy scripture in addition to the Bible. The Bible is a record of God and Jesus Christ’s dealings in the Old World, primarily the Middle East. Another book of scripture used by members of the Church is the Book of Mormon, a record of people in the New World.

Both the Bible and the Book of Mormon testify of Jesus Christ. They support and complement each other’s teachings. Both the Bible and Book of Mormon speak powerfully of God’s love. The testimonies of prophets from both sides of the earth confirm the love God has for all of His children, no matter where or how they live. Latter-day Saints are encouraged to study all of God’s words, apply what they’ve learned, and experience the peace and happiness that come from following God’s commandments.
