The Book of Mormon is published in 107 languages, and many of them are available in multiple formats online.
History
In March 1830, 5,000 copies of the Book of Mormon were printed in the E. B. Grandin print shop in Palmyra, New York. From that humble beginning, today the Church prints over 3 million copies a year on large web presses. By the end of this year, nearly 150 million copies will have been distributed. Truly, this important witness of Jesus Christ is beginning to cover the earth.
It is also interesting to note the increasingly rapid pace of translation work. In its first 100 year history (1830-1930), the Book of Mormon was translated into 16 languages. In the next 68 years (1931-1999), all or part of the Book of Mormon was translated into another 80 languages. Today, all or part of the Book of Mormon has been translated into 107 languages. 82 are translations of the full book and 25 are translations of Selections from The Book of Mormon, which contains the doctrinal teachings amounting to approximately one third of the full book.

Actually, the Swedish translation was updated within the last decade. The entire triple combination was retranslated into modern Swedish; it was a major project, with great results.
I need an audio version of the Book of Mormon in Tongan.

Sorry, Thelma, but the Book of Mormon hasn’t been recorded in Tongan.
Has the Book of Mormon been recorded in the French Language on CD?
Daniel, the French recordings are in process, and should be finished by the end of the year.
What is the value of The Triple Combination Book of Mormon, 1949 edition?

Radhika,
The Church hasn’t published the Book of Mormon in Punjabi. It has published it in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu, and also selections from the Book of Mormon in Bengali.
Also, the Church hasn’t done any audio recordings in languages for India.

Can I get an audio recording of the Book of Mormon in Croatian anywhere? I just got a copy of a Croatian Book of Mormon and I have no idea how to pronounce it! I’m going on my mission to the Slovenia/Croatia Mission in January! 😀
Megan, congratulations on your mission call! Sorry, but there are no audio recordings of the Book of Mormon available in Croatian.
Thank you!! Okay, no worries. I’ll learn it soon enough. 🙂
Larry Richman, where did you find out that the French recordings are in process? Do you know if German ones are (or when they’ll be available)?
I’m a native English speaker planning to learn German.
Thanks!
Jacob, sorry, but there are no current plans for recording the German scriptures. It may be approved in the future.
Oh well.

I am in great need of finding an audio version of the Book of Mormon in Chinese. I found a website, mandarintools, which had an audio version to the middle of Alma but stopped. I was told that there is a version on the web somewhere, unauthorized, but I would really like to find it. We have an 86 yo woman from mainland China who joined the Church in our Ward a couple years ago and she doesn’t speak English very well at all. She is legally blind and has never read or listened to the Book of Mormon. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!

Brian, sorry but I don’t know about the unofficial Chinese version you found. The Church is recording an official version in Chinese, but it won’t be ready for a while yet.
you mentioned that an audio version of the book of mormon in french was in the process of being recorded earlier this year and would be released near the end of the year and i was wondering if you could say whether or not it would be avaliable before christmas because i was hoping to give as a christmas gift.

It’s a long shot, but how I desperately wish that the Church would put the Arabic scriptures online! Or make the files available in electronic format.
Michael, the PDF for the Arabic Book of Mormon is on the language Page on LDS.org (http://lds.org/languages/ara?lang=eng), but it’s under the Melchizedek and Relief Society Sections (not under scriptures0. We’ll get that fixed.
Larry,
I was wondering about all these apps on iTunes and such. How do private companies publish the scriptures and other church publications without violating copyright laws? Is there some waiver they get from the church or are they just breaking the law?
Larry, that is fantastic! The Arabic is much appreciated! Of course, I would LOVE to see the Arabic online, but I realize the Church probably has languages that rate a higher priority.
Dale, to use Church content, they have to request permission from the Church’s copyright office.
Does anyone know the list of languages they are currently working on? I have Sikh friends who are really interested in learning more about the church but there is no Punjabi translation as of yet. 🙁
Sorry, there are no current translation plans for Punjabi. There is a Book of Mormon in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu, and also selections from the Book of Mormon in Bengali.
Is there any prohibition against putting audio recordings of the Book of Mormon on the Internet privately? Would the Church be opposed to it? If done collaboratively, like a wiki, we could knock out Russian, Arabic, Portugues, and others in a year!
Can’t wait until the French recordings are done!
Matt, it’s been discussed by the Church as an option, but it is currently not approved except for recording for personal use.
When will the audio version of the Book of Mormon in French be available?
Ron, the French is scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2013.
Anseio pelo Audio do Livro de Mórmon em francês!
Just called called to the Kyiv, Ukraine mission, Ukrainian speaking! I couldn’t find them on the site, so I assume they don’t exist, but is the audio version of the Book of Mormon available in Russian or Ukrainian? Or is it in progress by chance?
Thanks for considering my question!
And perhaps an exhaustive list of which languages have audio versions would help people out a little bit 🙂 instead of having to bug you
I guess that list at the top is an exhaustive list, isn’t it?
Doesn’t even come close to the Bible which is in 2,300 languages! It should match that if it was truth from God.
How can I get a Mormon books including Bible?
You can request a free Book of Mormon at http://mormon.org/free-book-of-mormon
You can request a free Bible at http://mormon.org/free-bible

Is there an audio version of the Book of Mormon in Italian? I can’t seem to find one, so I’m wondering if it’s not out yet.
Thanks,
Chris
Will the French be done closer to the beginning or the end of the 1st quarter of 2013? Any hopes that it will be done in the next month?
Amy, The French recordings probably won’t be done until closer to the end of the year.
Aloha, I’m interested in purchasing a Book of Mormon translated in our Hawaiian Language. We have had the opportunity to order from our ward and I didn’t get a chance to do so. And I’m interested in one now and like to refresh my native tongue. Not sure how to request one. Any suggestion. Mahalo Nui Loa, Bradda Kagawa
