The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has published minor adjustments to section introductions to two of the Church’s four canonized scriptures—the Doctrine and Covenants and the Book of Mormon.
Changes to the Doctrine and Covenants section introductions are informed by recent historical research from the Joseph Smith Papers Project and involve clarifications or corrections to dates, locations, and minor factual errors.
The Church has published a detailed summary of the adjustments and an explanation of historical adjustments made to the scriptures.
The adjustments are now available in digital scriptures for most languages on Churchofjesuschrist.org and the Gospel Library app. Additional languages will follow.
Printed copies will begin reflecting these adjustments in the coming months. Members are not expected to obtain new scriptures as a result of these updates.
