Monday, I wrote about ways to invite others to listen to LDS General Conference, such as putting banners and widgets on your website or blog and also sharing an introductory YouTube video with your friends through social networking sites.
Please consider inviting all your friends to listen to living prophets. In the April 2011 general conference, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland said,
“I ask you to reflect in the days ahead not only on the messages you have heard but also on the unique phenomenon that general conference itself is — what we as Latter-day Saints believe such conferences to be and what we invite the world to hear and observe about them. Most of our congregation, seen or unseen, is made up of members of the Church. However, with marvelous new methods of communication, ever larger proportions of the audience for our conferences are not members of the Church – yet.”
who has a word from God for me?
there is no real thing that i want from God or perhaps i do not know what to ask of Him. He gave me a family and i am to provide for that family – care for their spiritual and physical needs. but due to my health i cannot honour the material responsibilities i have towards them at the moment.
when i was younger i had no qualms about asking for anything that i thought i needed. but i’ve come to the conclusion that i was merely asking for things to maintain and grow my own “kingdom” – prayers were centred around “i need a job, to earn money, to build my house, to entertain my guests, to travel to work and holiday destinations and so forth. increase my clientele and prosper my business, so i could have more of the “good” things that made life easier and esteem in the eyes of my peers. health ensured a steady flow of cash through employment.”
moreover, i discovered that i do not really love the things God loves and i did not dream the dreams He dreamt for me. [who can truthfully say that they absolutely know what dreams God has for them, when we can hardly fathom the dreams our earthly parents dreamt for us when they conceive us.] in no way was i truly interested in God coming to live with us on earth[revelations – the New Jerusalem, the experience of the israelites in the desert]. so now i ask, why would God invest in a “kingdom” that is not His. and what about the Kingdom He has already established and of which i should be a useful citizen.
so now, what say you, my fellow believers? who else is there to ask but God in Jesus name, Amen.
