Last week, we shared with you the challenge to watch the YouTube video of Elder Jeffrey R. Holland bearing testimony of the Book of Mormon on Monday for Family Home Evening, with the goal of promoting that video to the YouTube home page.
According to the Book of Mormon/YouTube Challenge page on Facebook, the video was promoted to the “Top Viral Videos” category on CastTV Homepage and it appeared in YouTube’s “Trending Topics.” It has been viewed over 240,000 times.
Although the video has not yet been promoted to the YouTube home page, the many testimonies given by both members and non-members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints should be evidence enough that this event was a success.
Please continue sharing Elder Holland’s powerful message. YouTube calculates popularity by day, week and month, so with added effort this video could still climb it’s way through the ranks.
You may also want to share with your friends this great new topic page on LDS.org about The Book of Mormon.
Great idea! I actually found out about the challenge when no less than 2 friends invited me to view it. On one of my friends Facebook wall a lengthy discussion (possibly better described as a debate) ensued between several of her friends and I think maybe some gospel progress was made. 🙂
An awesome idea also came to me – why don’t you do similar Facebook challenges but with less controversial topics anchored around sociological “trigger points” (my own made up word) such as holidays, or national events (like the super bowl for instance)? This idea came to me because tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and I really wish I had some simple Mormon Message I could share with my friends about how awesome mother’s are and also a little about how families have the potential to be eternal.
