As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gather every six months, thousands of people work tirelessly behind the scenes to make general conference a success. But who are these people, and what is their story? Some are Church employees, and others are unpaid volunteers. Still, each plays a crucial role in carrying the general conference messages to hearts and homes worldwide.
With nearly 100,000 in-person guests over the two days of general conference, countless things must go right to create the deeply spiritual and memorable experience general conference brings. This series showcases the work, dedication, and tremendous effort of those who make general conference happen every six months, focusing on different contributors in each episode. It offers behind-the-scenes insight and a tribute to those unspoken heroes and the miracles they experience every six months to bring the conference to the world.
In this episode, we see how many mics, speakers, lights, and steps go into creating a comfortable experience for everyone sitting in the 21,000-seat auditorium. The audio and lighting engineers walk miles in one of the largest stadiums in the world. Find out how much work goes into setting up so that every member of the audience is free from distraction, so that the Spirit can flow freely. A lot can go wrong, but as this team works with the Spirit, the Lord’s message will still go out to the world.
