The Church History Library in Salt Lake City maintains a collection of Church records, the majority of which are available publicly. Such records may be helpful if you want to find information about an ancestor, see your stake’s submitted histories for an anniversary celebration, read various articles and other publications, or view one of the many library exhibits.
The Church News article “How You Can Make the Most of the Church History Library” provides in-depth information about the library’s offerings and how to access them, including the following:
- How to use the Church History Catalog online at catalog.ChurchofJesusChrist.org
- How to fill out an “Ask Us” form on the Church History Library’s website. A consultation team responds to submitted questions.
- How to use the library’s research guides that cover topics such as Relief Society records, early Black Church members, early baptism and confirmation records, general conference, and missions and missionaries.
- How to book an appointment (due to COVID-19 precautions) with a consultant.
The Church History Library is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visit ChurchHistoryLibrary.org to fill out the “Ask Us” form, set up an appointment, or learn more about the online resources available.
