#LightTheWorld is an invitation to transform Christmas into a season of service. It’s a worldwide movement to touch hearts and change lives by doing the things Jesus did: feeding the hungry, comforting the lonely, visiting the sick and afflicted, and showing kindness to everyone. Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14).
Below are six ways to join the movement and minister to others one by one—just like Jesus did.
1. Watch the video “The Christ Child”
This 18-minute dramatization of the Nativity story recounts in stunning detail the sacred events found in the gospels of Matthew and Luke in the Bible. Journey with Joseph and Mary from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Witness the awe of the shepherds in the plains of Judea. Feel the joy of the wise men as they kneel before the Light of the World—the Savior Jesus Christ.
2. Come Celebrate Christmas with Us!
Join us on December 22 for a 1-hour Christmas worship service. Wise men traveled far distances to worship the Christ Child, but you can worship Him right in your own neighborhood. Come sing, pray, and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Find our church in your area.
3. Use a Giving Machine
These vending machines have a Christmas twist. Swipe your credit card at a vending machine—but instead of buying a candy bar for yourself, you’re buying a sheep for a family in a third-world country. Or a polio vaccine. Or a pair of shoes. Or 100 meals for your local food bank. With the #LightTheWorld Giving Machines, that’s exactly what happens. The Giving Machines provide a way for people to quickly and easily help those in need and make the Christmas season a little more meaningful for themselves—and countless others. Find a giving machine.
4. Sign Up for Daily Service Prompts During #LightTheWorld
This Christmas, what if you could use your mobile device to make a difference in the lives of those around you? Get #LightTheWorld text or email notifications.
5. Hear a Special Christmas Message from Missionaries
Let love and peace fill your home as you learn about the birth of Jesus Christ with two of our friendly missionaries. Request a visit.
6. Share your experiences with #LightTheWorld
Use the hashtag #LightTheWorld as you share on social media. The Church will aggregate many of these posts to the bottom of this page at LightTheWorld.org.
