In a blog post on LDS.org, President Russell M. Nelson reported that he has completed the same assignment he gave to young adults in January. His challenge was to study everything Jesus said and did as recorded in the Old and New Testaments, the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants.
92-year-old Russell M. Nelson, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, reported that in six weeks, he had looked up and marked more than 2,200 citations from the four books of scripture. He explains how this assignment helped him receive a greater testimony of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and that the translation of the Book of Mormon was a gift from God.
Imagine that the President of the Quorum of the Twelve—the next man in line to become the prophet—received an additional testimony through this six-week study.

Thank you, Elder Russell M Nelson! I’m inspired by your own thorough, exemplary study and look forward to hearing more. I have loved applying your recent challenge. I began by making a list of all of the titles of the Savior I could find, with a commensurate scripture (I’m still going, at 52). I have been studying each one, with its particular implications about the Savior’s reach, love, sacrifice and personal investment in each of our lives. I particularly love that He is called the “Consolation of Israel” and hope to write more about that as I explore it further. I’ve come across a few names I’d not recalled, and have learned from each one. I’m also studying the Savior’s life, outlining, as you suggested, all that He did, and how He did it. I’m certainly not as far along as you are in this particular go-found, but I am grateful for the process and challenge. I also loved and am still wet from the downpour of your and Wendy’s Roots Tech 2017 talk. Absolutely loved the joint message. That very weekend, our family found a long-sought great-great-great grandparents in Ascoli, Italy, and many close relatives. All of this was made possible because of newly acquired records. Today, I was proxy for my great-great-great’s sister and many other close family members. This has been a 30-plus-year trek and feast finding family, since my conversion, and we have loved it. I think my parents have poked a whole through the veil! Truly our hearts are turned, and theirs to ours. Thanks for everything. We witness to the world that you are a living witness and apostle of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
