Spanish-speaking youth around the world can now enjoy the music of the 2016 Mutual theme in their own language, thanks to the talents and service of young men and young women in Mexico who recorded the songs February 26–28 in Mexico City and participated in a two-day music composition workshop.
The 35 participants came in response to the Area Presidency’s invitation to share their musical talents to help other youth increase their faith in Christ.
The recording effort was just part of the Area Presidency’s goal to build a foundation for LDS music in Spanish for the youth of Mexico. During the music composition workshop, participants learned how to write, perform, and record music. Some of the music they wrote during the workshop was even recorded that weekend.
You can find the 12 Mutual theme songs they recorded in Spanish on the youth.lds.org Spanish music site and on the Mexico Area country page. They also will soon be available on Spotify.

Ideas 1. Scroll the words with the video with a line in Spanish and a line in English. 2. Provide an Englush translation might be easier. 3. Sing as a mix in Spanish then the same verse in English.
4. List reasons for listening to music sung in a language the youth do not know.
Mine: Listening to hymns and youth music in a foreign language that I do not know helps me to feel the Holy Spirit, allowing him to get past my listening to the words with my thoughts and memories they trigger. This helped on my Mission when we were teaching a lady and her sister from France (she only knew French, we didn’t), there were times where we were able to be figuring out the answers and find relevant scriptures to her sister’s questions as they whispered them to each other in French. This was important to the Lord because her sister only had a short time before having to return to France.
Perfect timing – thank you! We just got a request to add the youth theme music to the LDS Music app, which I’ve been indexing the past few days, and thanks to this info we should be able to get the Spanish out at the same time.
