Looking for short URLs to access Church websites?
I’ve just created a list of short URLs that are short web addresses you can type to reach many of the sections of Church websites.
For example, to reach the Ensign magazine online, you could go to LDS.org and (1) click the Resources menu, (2) select “Magazines and Manuals,” and then (3) click “Ensign” in the left navigation. Or, you could just type ensign.lds.org in your browser.
Looking for a quick way to get to The Family: A Proclamation to the World? You could go to LDS.org and (1) click the Resources menu, (2) select “Home & Family,” and then (3) click “The Family: A Proclamation to the World” in the left navigation. Or, you could just type FamilyProclamation.lds.org.
Want to read talks from general conference? You could go to LDS.org and (1) click the Teachings menu and (2) select “General Conference” or you could just type conference.lds.org or even gc.lds.org.
Also, typing itunes.lds.org into your browser will automatically open iTunes and take you to the Mormon Channel Store.

Having simple and short URLs is definitely a good thing. Unfortunately using some of these results in a slower page load. Typing in ensign.lds.org for instance, that redirects you to http://lds.org/ensign which then redirects you to https://www.lds.org/ensign. With reasonable bandwidth and low latency that is still going to take some where in the range of 200ms each. The base HTML for the page won’t show up for over a second. Now imagine how that plays on a high latency connection, like a mobile phone.
There are some things that could be done to improve the situation, HSTS header in the response would be one.
