The Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible are now available in the ePub format.
The files created by the Church do not have DRM built in to them so you should be able to use them with many of the popular e-reader devices on the market, including the Apple iPad, Sony Reader, and Barnes & Noble Nook. (See my previous post to read my DRM horror story.)
Visit the Gospel Library for ePub Wiki page on LDSTech to download the files and for instructions on how to use the ePub format an iPad device.
The way it should be! iTunes is the same way. I think it immoral for them to use the word “buy” “purchase” when they hook DRM onto it. I obviously don’t own it if I can’t use it, right? I’m glad the church doesn’t play into the foolishness!
@Andrew Itunes quit using DRM years ago…
Although you don’t mention it, it’s very simple to convert epub for Kindle. There are many free and easy-to-use tools, such as Calibre, to convert epub files to Kindle files. I just did it for the Bible and Book of Mormon in a matter of minutes.
Even easier to use http://www.2epub.com to convert .epub files to Kindle’s .mobi
Umm,,, I have a SONY Reader, and I am having troubles importing the content. I guess I expected a file with an .epub extension. What was unzipped were xml files, and the Reader is not importing them.
Any advice?
