General Conference begins tomorrow. Are you planning to attend, or do you consider conference weekend as a break from regular Sunday meetings?
Before each conference, the First Presidency issues a letter to “invite all members of the Church to participate” in general conference. “Messages of inspiration and guidance will be delivered by the First Presidency, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other General Authorities and general officers of the Church…. We encourage all members to listen to and follow the counsel given during the general conference.”
There are blessings of attending the event live, either at the Conference Center or in your meetinghouse. If possible, I encourage you to arrange your schedules so you can attend live. The Savior has promised that “where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). There is power in the Spirit you can feel by attending the live event.
- Attend the live event in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. See ticket information.
- Attend conference as it is broadcast live via satellite or Internet in your own meetinghouse.
If you can’t attend live, then I encourage you to watch or listen to it live through television, radio, the Internet, or other media. Recording the sessions for viewing at some later time somehow lessens the impact of the messages on us. What could be more important tomorrow and Sunday than listening to Prophets and Apostles of God giving us advice on how to live in an increasingly evil and confusing world?

If you will be watching conference on LDS.org, you’ll notice that the Church has upgraded the video player. Learn about the new features of that video player.

Will the live video stream/player be in HD?
Bryce,
The new Church player at gc.lds.org is much better than the player used last conference. It will detect your connection speed and adjust the stream bitrate accordingly. I’m not sure what the highest bit rate is.
Bryce, I just learned that the live stream will be in HD.
“ecording the sessions for viewing at some later time somehow lessens the impact of the messages on us. ”
Easy for you to say Larry but here in the Antipodes (14 hours behind SLC) even the night owls are starting to go to bed as everyone else fires up for inspiration and guidance. We need to wait a week for a common gathering and by then everything has already been dissected a million times on the Bloggernacle.
now if there was a live stream that started every hour on the hour for the next day that would be cool – now more waiting for the MP4s to go up
