The Church is working on a new section of LDS.org that will bring together all types of media (video, audio, images, etc.) for Church members to use when learning the gospel, sharing the Church’s message with friends and family, or creating material for their families or their Church assignments. It will be a much improved version of the current videos.lds.org, audio.lds.org, and images.lds.org.
The LDS.org team is interested in your help in naming this section. How would you refer to, or search for, a place on LDS.org that houses a collection such as the one just described? If you have any ideas please post them in the comments below.
lds.org/LDSMedia
Or
lds.org/IMedia
Center of Light & Truth
LDS VIA Media . org
(Latter-Day Saint Video, Image, & Audio Media)
LDSConnect
LDSMediaCollection.org
I’d call it connect.lds.org, gospelviatech.lds.org, gospeltech.lds.org or gospelmedia.lds.org. These embody the spirit and essence of what is going to be contained and what is hoped to be accomplished.
ldsmedia.org
Wow! Sure glad I’m not going to be a judge. There have been so many excellent choices already submitted.
If we are referring a non-member friend to the site, a NAME would be easier to remember. My favorite would be Mormon Sharing Center. But I also think Mormon Resource Center would be good. There are so many combinations available. Once you are in the site, then the catagories need to be broken down further. I’ll be excited to see the finished result.
MormonMedia.org
Short, simple and to the point.
Audio Visual Resource Center. LDS.org/AVRC
I think – LDSallMedia.org.
mediashare.lds.org
or ldsmediashare.org
I think we should keep it simple and call it http://www.lds.org/media . There is no need to make this complicated. If we do, we’ll draw away it’s focus, and make it hard for people to remember, and share. And we certainly don’t want that to happen.
The word media brings with it some negative connotations. Perhaps taking the high road and making it easier to differentiate for the less technical audience would be good.
Something like resources.lds.org OR something cute that like library.lds.org
I don’t care what they name it.
Just *please*, for the love of everything, call in Special Curriculum and NorthTemple and make it accessible (captions/subtitles, HTML—not Flash—video, [where available] ASL versions of video) and scalable/responsive (it’s a browser!, it’s an iPad!, it’s an Android!). We’re going to use this in Sunday School/PH/RS and the living room, not huddled around the Pentium I stashed away in the clerk’s office.
In honor of the local ward library, LDSLibrary!
I would name if LDSgospel411.org. or LDSgospelmedia.org
Enrich
I like this name very much, someone else suggested it.
LDSmedia.org is what I liked.
LDS Media Gallery
Name it the “Circle of Life” Logo could be a circle with all the wedges of various media represented.
Mormon Media
I don’t really think that the church is going to waste extra money in getting a new domain name. We’ve seen that in the disbanding of ldscatalog.com.
I think media.lds.org which would probably be redirected to lds.org/media would be perfectly fine. Of course, its always accessible via the menu which can now be accessed from any page.
Just out of curiosity how far along is it?
Allen, it should be up in a month or two.
Regarding the change from LDScatalog.com to store.lds.org, it really didn’t have anything to do with wasting extra money. Domain names are cheap. It had to do with branding. Looking at the domain LDScatalog.com, you don’t really know if it’s an official Church site or some commercial site selling products to the LDS market. Whereas, store.lds.org is obviously an official Church site, since it’s part of the LDS.org site.

I agree with the others: LDS Media, and the standard media.lds.org and lds.org/media. That also makes translation simpler for other languages and is a cognate already in several languages, which makes achieving correct search results easier regardless of the searcher’s native language.
If we’re going for a sub-brand, though, then borrow from the Mormon Messages equity and launch Mormon Media. A simple piggyback and tie-in.
To find these types of materials on the site, I search for the specific type of media I need, by name (i.e. pictures, music, speeches mp3, etc.).
if i was in a meeting house, I would go to the library to find stuff.
so if i was on the lds.org site, i would want to goto the library. i.e. library.lds.org
download.lds.org
allmedia.lds.org
