Since the launch of the Facebook page for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (facebook.com/lds) in May 2008, the Church has created two dozen other Facebook pages in support of various programs and interests. LDS365 maintains a list of the Church pages on Facebook.
According to a recent article in Church News and Events (news.lds.org), Facebook is available in more than 70 translations, and 70% of Facebook users are outside the United States, which makes it a great way to share information with others around the world. Nearly half a million people have Liked the main Facebook page at facebook.com/lds, and total Likes of all the Church’s Facebook pages number more than a million.
There are now more opportunities to share your testimony online using social media. Joining the Church’s Facebook pages, linking to them, or commenting on them are effective ways to do this. Here are some other resources you may find helpful:
HI,
As long as I give you written credit, is it ok to copy parts of this news letter or blog and print it in the Sunday bulletin which my husband and I type up, edit and print each week? Some people are just not aware of how much of a presence the church is on the internet–including me. Thanks to you I am learning a lot more and would like to share it with others in my ward.
Thanks, Janet J
This is exciting! Despite the opposition, now and in the past, the gospel of Jesus Christ continues to roll forth. As Joseph Smith stated many years ago, “The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done” (History of the Church, 4:540).
