
As a follow-up to Friday’s article “How Children Can Look Forward to the Youth Program,” this article includes resources for youth, leaders, and parents.
Parents and leaders can use the information in Appendix A of the Come, Follow Me manual, “Preparing Your Children for a Lifetime on God’s Covenant Path.”
The Temple
- Parents can help their children prepare for their first temple recommend interview by reviewing with them the temple recommend interview questions found in the General Handbook.
- Youth should meet with their bishop to get a temple recommend to perform baptisms for the dead in the temple. Read “Tips For Children on Their First Temple Trip.”
- Leaders should plan a Temple and Priesthood Preparation meeting for the Valiant 10 class and their parents. See General Handbook, 12.7.
- Parents can review with their children the information on the Church’s webpages about temples.
Priesthood Ordination
- Parents and leaders should teach about priesthood keys (General Handbook, 3.4.1), priesthood authority (General Handbook, 3.4), and priesthood power (General Handbook, 3.5).
- The bishop or an assigned counselor should interview young men at the beginning of the year they turn 12 to determine if they are spiritually prepared to be ordained a deacon.
Activities and Events
Enjoy lots of activities with the Young Women or Aaronic Priesthood group. Go to youth camps and have fun with others while learning about Jesus Christ and His gospel.

Serve at Church
You may receive a calling to serve in a class or quorum presidency. You will also have opportunities to teach your class, help plan activities, and serve in other ways.
Seminary
In the year you turn 14, you can start attending seminary to learn more about Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. Learn about seminary.

In the year you turn 14, you can also attend FSY (For the Strength of Youth) conferences with other youth who love and want to follow Jesus Christ. Learn about FSY Conferences.
