MY TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST
A lifetime with my Saviour as counsellor, comforter, confidante and friend cannot be shared in this brief opportunity. Jesus Christ lives, saves and redeems from error.
At twenty-eight I was a widow with five little girls to rear, youngest was nine weeks. Night after night I knelt, pleading that my shoulders would be strengthened for this burden, and each morning I arose with peace in my heart.
There were many miracles. I record a few, briefly
Within hours of my husband’s death, I was invited to take over his agency in the large company he represented. As bulk fuel agent in 1953 I was pioneer in a field of labour new to women. But the Lord provided the work opportunity and then guided me to succeed.
Over and over he sent good and loyal people to help me. A sister came to live with me for that first year of struggle and sorrow. Other family members and friends assisted with repairs and maintenance. Priesthood blessings were provided as needs arose, and priesthood service.
When it was time to sell the business and obtain a degree in teaching, the Lord sent a friend who was also bishop to advise me, and I was able to sell at an unexpectedly high price, so there was money for the schooling.
When studies overwhelmed me, a desperate prayer brought peace and inspiration. Torn between the desire to study long hours to obtain my usual high marks, and the need to be home with my children, I prayed for guidance. Often, as I studied frantically, the message would come, “It is enough.” I would close my books and drive home from the university library. Years later, when I applied to enter a masters program, my average grade was just exactly the percent required for entry. The Lord knew my need.
I am eighty-five now. My daughters each married, in the temple, righteous companions; and have reared fine families Temple marriages of grandchildren bring joy now; and a posterity of sincere parents, citizens and saints love, are rearing, our seventy-three great grandchildren. All love me and care about me.
Who knew in the trying weeks of 1953 that life would be so sweet and fulfilling. All because my Saviour, Jesus Christ has watched over me and loved me.
. Nor can I express my supreme joy because of the hope of being reunited with my dear husband and our posterity for time and eternity. All because of the atonement of my Saviour, Jesus Christ, and the plan of my loving Heavenly Father.
Thanks for giving me this easy way to share my most precious faith in my Saviour, Jesus Christ.
