Editors note (June 4, 2018): Ministering Resources has been renamed Counseling Resources.
The Ministering Resource on Same-Sex Attraction has been updated with additional helps for leaders. This resource is available to members of ward and stake councils at CounselingResources.lds.org or through the Leader and Clerk Resources section of LDS.org. A notice to leaders suggested that these resources may be reviewed in a stake or ward council meeting.
As you read this Ministering Resource, be sure to click EXPAND ALL to see all the paragraphs under each subsection.
This updated Ministering Resource is available now in English and will be translated into 9 additional languages over the coming weeks (Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish).
Last October, the Church updated its official resources on same-sex attraction, including the website MormonandGay.lds.org (in English only) and the entry on Same-Sex Attraction in Gospel Topics (in 10 languages).
The following resources about same-sex attraction have been translated into 38 languages:
- “Same-Sex Attraction” entry from Gospel Topics.
- “Church Teachings,” a 4-page document from the “Church Teachings” section of MormonandGay.lds.org.
- “Frequently Asked Questions,” a 2-page document from the “Frequently Asked Questions” section of MormonandGay.lds.org.
- The notice sent to ward and stake leaders on October 25, 2016.
Links to each of these translated documents can be found at the bottom of the page of resources for same-sex attraction that I maintain on this site (see the link to it in the right sidebar on this site).
What about dealing with a child saying transgender. As a parent of one. It has been very difficult. No one has a clue in the church how to help. If another person say just pray. I’m going to scream. Counseling now are encouraging this. My child had embraced this life style and The father has encouraged. I feel alone in this. I will alway love my child. I pray I even beg for help to our Heavenky Father. I know about free agency. It doesn’t stop the pain as a parent.
