The article “LDS Curriculum for 2016” outlines the manuals to be used for Sunday classes in 2016. This article clarifies the Aaronic Priesthood, Young Women, and youth Sunday School curriculum Come, Follow Me: Learning Resources for Youth.
The lessons will be updated online for 2016. However, if you use a printed version of the curriculum, you should continue to use it in 2016, because the printed version will not be updated for 2016. You can download a printable PDF of the 2015 manual from the Come, Follow Me website, lds.org/youth/learn.
Are they really going to use the same outline that they have used for the last four years? I really am feeling stale after so long. No matter how you try to change it up or add to, the kids aren’t dumb and totally remember that they have done this over and over. Anyway, if you know anything different, can you let me know? Thank you so much.
Pam
I thought the same thing but from a career teacher’s perspective this was the perfect model to review and scaffold learning as the child matured–in a spiraling learning effect rather than a straight line starting point. This program calls upon teacher’s resourcefulness. The Ensign, New Era and even the Liahona have excellent ideas for a resource file. The FHE object lesson for 2 maybe 3 years in monthly issues are perfect for youths to teach . I’m glad that the topics are repetitive, much like the gospel themes in the scriptures and using Doctrinal principles for anchors.
I agree with Pam.
The way I understand the Curriculum we are supposed to help the youth experience the gospel by living it and speaking about it candidly with each other. The gospel is never boring or stale when someone starts to internalize it.
I work with the young men and it’s very challenging to reach these guys on a spiritual level. I have not yet watched over the youth as I should. I don’t care for them as much as I should. If I had, I would be praying for them more earnestly. I would be thinking about them more frequently. When prompted I would contact them more regularly. The classroom on Sunday is important but what I do during the week to prepare myself and the youth for a real experience is just as important if not more so.
Here is something I have noticed about Come, Follow Me. Each month there are 5-7 different outlines for us to choose from. Each outline contains 5-7 different activities. Each activity could easily take the entire teaching time. if i am doing my math right, there seems there is enough content for 300-500 classes. Just a thought:)
I have taught the curriculum many times. I don’t understand this criticism. At most the kids will hear the lessons twice. We as adults hear the same lessons many, many times over. There is no need to change anything up. Just teach with the spirit and the children’s spirit will respond.

The lessons are available online. Perhaps someone in your ward or branch can provide it. I’ll also email you a copy of it.
