indexing-event-2017

FamilySearch invites you to participate in the annual Worldwide Indexing Event, October 20–22, 2017.

Indexing is the process of viewing historical documents that FamilySearch has scanned and entering text information into a searchable database. People around the world can then search these indexed records to find their ancestors.

Indexing is easier than ever using the new FamilySearch online indexing tool that doesn’t require you to download any software and lets you index on a computer or tablet.

If you have a computer or tablet and internet connection, you can index records. You could do it as a family or as a youth or adult group. Even a whole ward or stake could participate.

People with non-English language skills are particularly needed. FamilySearch has over 200 digital camera teams photographing historical records worldwide from non-English speaking countries, which has created a huge need for indexers to make these records searchable online.

You can choose from projects of interest from all over the world in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Polish, Swedish, and Dutch.

If you’re interested in participating, visit FamilySearch.org/indexingevent2017 to get started.
