Singer David Archuleta shocked fans when he decided to put his singing career on hold for two years to serve an LDS mission. Watch this special David Archuleta: Called to Serve to find out how his Mormon mission changed him and what he plans to do next.
The Mormon from Murray, Utah, gained an international fan base following his second place finish on “American Idol” in 2008. The David Archuleta Facebook page has 3.7 million Likes and there are about a half million searches on his name on Google every month.
“A lot of people told me, well, you don’t have to go on a mission; you’re doing a lot of good in what you’re doing,” Archuleta said. “And, it was really a conflict because I had always wanted to go on a mission when I was little.”

Thanks for the wonderful article about David and a great drawing by Chad Hawkins. I’m an adult but David Archuleta is my role model for being a nicer and more charitable human being.
